Dropping like flies

Pete Weber just said a few minutes ago on 104.5 The Zone that it is very likely both Arnott and Dumont will sit out tonight's game against Anaheim. This could not have come at a worse time. As I said on Monday night, we CAN NOT afford to lose JP from the lineup as well. The pair of them account for a substantial amount of chemistry (if not ALL) on the ice. Things could get very hairy very quickly.

Wade Belak was sent back home to Nashville yesterday for further evaluation of a lower body injury sustained during the Los Angeles game Monday night morning skate on Monday (thanks, Paul). As a result, the Predators recalled Patric Hornqvist from the Milwaukee Admirals. While Patric has been putting up some impressive numbers for our AHL affiliate, he tends to struggle a bit when he hits NHL ice. I still like him a million times better than Antti Pihlstrom though.

With Arnott and Dumont out, the Predators will have to look to the remaining players to emerge as leaders both in the locker room and on the ice. Shea Weber's my pick to fill this role quite nicely for a couple of games, if it takes that long for both Jason and JP to return to the lineup. Weber is on the cusp of greatness and I am constantly impressed with his mindset and approach to the game. Even though I have full confidence in his ability to lead, I am still very worried about what our on-ice product is going to look like. Tonight is going to be one giant chemistry experiment come to life. 9:30pm might come too soon today.

UPDATE: Pete Weber's comment was meant for Radek Bonk, not JP Dumont. Suddenly this entire post seems irrelevant.

  1. Not good for the Ads either. I'm sure they'd love to keep Patric in the lineup, and avoid a Sulzer like situation...

  2. "Wade Belak was sent back home to Nashville yesterday for further evaluation of a lower body injury sustained during the Los Angeles game Monday night."

That's the screwy part - Belak didn't play Monday night in LA. This has to be left over from the PHX game. Maybe the reason he was held out of LA (besides, ya know, not actually bringing any skill to the ice)?

  3. Tennessean article says Belak's injury happened during the morning skate on Monday - before the LA game.

  5. I thought that the Belak thing didn't seem right because I didn't remember him playing against LA either. Thanks for clearing that up, Paul.

I hope that Dumont does play tonight because I don't think I can take watching a game where both he and Arnott are out.
